Run Walk Talk in Well + Good: Exercise and Anxiety

Thank you to Emily Laurence for including Run Walk Talk and my comments for her article about exercise-induced anxiety in Well + Good, What To Do if Exercise Is Making Your Anxiety Worse, Not Better. Emily writes:

Here, therapists who specialize in the connection between exercise and mental health explain why, for some, working out can be anxiety-inducing and the best ways to overcome it. Because, according to them, it’s absolutely possible to turn working out from something that causes anxiety to something that calms it.

It’s not unusual for some people to experience more anxiety during or after working out - but if you suffer from anxiety, you can use your exercise-induced anxiety as an opportunity to learn how to calm yourself at other anxious moments. In the article, I explain some of the strategies I’ve used with my patients and clients, which may help you, too.
